Woman wounded while shooting outside the South Bakersfield residential complex

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Police said a woman was wounded after a shooting outside a South Bakersfield apartment complex Wednesday night.

The officers were called to an apartment complex on South Chester Avenue south of Planz Road at around 9:15 p.m. to report a shooting.

A spokesman said a group of people were standing outside the apartment complex on S. Chester Ave. 3461 when another group went to the group and opened fire. One woman was punched in the calf and suffered moderate injuries. She was the only one wounded by gunfire, Lt. Jason Townsend.

Several bullets hit the exterior of the apartment complex, but none of them penetrated an apartment unit.

No descriptions of the suspects were immediately available.
