UCSB swept Cal State Bakersfield one-two on Saturday, 6-0 and 13-3, for the gauchos’ sixth and seventh straight wins.
Rodney Boone took his 10th win in his first game, threw eight innings with three hits, and hit 12. Boone, 10-4, now has 117 Ks for the season and 228 in his career, both third all-time for third the gauchos .
Broc Mortensen, Marcos Castanon and Jordan Sprinkle met on home runs for UCSB.
Chris Troye beat ninth place and pulled the team back to seal the win.
The gauchos won the second game in a run-rule walk-off in the lower part of the eighth inning with an RBI single from pinch-hitter Nick Oakley, increasing the score to a 10-run lead at 13-3.
McClain O’Connor scored a grand slam home run for the gauchos in the third inning. Sprinkle and Castanon each had two hits in the game, and Jason Willow had three RBIs, including a solo home run.
Cory Lewis (6-4) earned the win by setting up seven innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits, and hitting 11.
The gauchos are looking for the hit on Sunday afternoon in the Caesar Uyesaka stadium. Play time is 1 p.m. They are 38-18 in the season.
