The SW Bakersfield protest was held on Sunday to assist farmers in India

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – Protests in India continue.

Unrest continues across India and daily protests in support of Indian farmers occur.
This is because many farmers and activists are concerned about new laws to modernize Indian agriculture. Farmers say the laws will destroy their industries.

A demonstration was held in SW Bakersfield on Saturday with an estimated 1,000 participants in support of Indian farmers.

The organizers say they will keep protesting until they see changes.

Lezla Gooden of 23ABC attended the demonstrations and explains how these laws can affect Kern County.
