The Kern County Sheriff’s Office identifies a man who was killed in gunfire in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, California – UPDATE (March 29, 2021): The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was shot dead on March 9th. According to KCSO, 37-year-old Stanley Wade Peterson was shot dead on the 1400 block on East 9th Street in Bakersfield. Jerry Dawson, a 41-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the shooting. No additional information is currently available.

UPDATE (March 26, 2021): A Bakersfield man was arrested in connection with a fatal shootout in East Bakersfield. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, 41-year-old Jerry Dawson was arrested in connection with the shooting that took place on March 9 at the 1400 block on East 9th Street. That shooting left a man dead.

At the time of his arrest, Dawson – a convicted criminal – was found in possession of a loaded gun.

A man died on Tuesday after a shooting in East Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department says the call came in shortly after 9 p.m. for a shooting. When BPD arrived near East 9th Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, they found a grown man who had been shot multiple times.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
