BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – On Tuesday, a local charity hosted a grocery giveaway to feed families struggling in the community.
The Wendale Davis Foundation has partnered with Pacific Health and Education and A Right Place For Seniors. The event was so popular that it had to start letting people through the line before the start time.
It was supposed to start at 3 p.m., but people were lining up hours beforehand.
Pacific Health and Education and A Right Place For Seniors sponsored the event, and Wesley Davis, founder of the foundation, is happy with how the event went.
“It was an amazing day. I’m just delighted that we have been able to feed so many people in need during this COVID era,” said Davis. “We fed families. This was not an initiative for the homeless. It was designed to help families in trouble who are not doing well, and we achieved that today.”
On Tuesday, February 23, they’ll be hosting another grocery distribution at their building on 5300 California Avenue.
