Sgt. Pushup comes to Bakersfield on Wednesday to raise awareness of childhood hunger

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Patrick Parker, also known as Sergeant Pushup, is stationed in Bakersfield on Wednesday to raise awareness of childhood hunger.

Parker is an excellent Iraq war veteran. He’s bringing his push-ups campaign to the Golden Empire Gleaners Foodbank, where he’s expected to do 1,000 push-ups. Through his campaign, he has provided more than 365,000 meals to children across the country.

“I love my country and I love push-ups, so I thought, ‘I’m going to create a character,’ and Sgt. Pushup came about,” said Parker. “It’s about continuing to serve the nation, one push-up at a time.”

Parker also wrote two children’s comic book workbooks to teach children about COVID-19 and how not to spread germs.
