Several road closures through Bakersfield are planned for next week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Several road closures are planned across Bakersfield this weekend and next week.

Westside Parkway – Friday May 7th

The eastbound driveway to Westside Parkway from Mohawk Street is scheduled to close at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The closure is needed to repair a street lamp in the area that was recently damaged in a collision, according to city officials.

The right lane closure on the east turn off Westside Parkway to the Truxtun Extension is required. Closing begins at 9:00 a.m. A crane must be used to work in the area. Drivers are asked to use alternative routes if possible and to be prepared for delays in the region.

The repairs are expected to be completed by 11:30 a.m. The lanes are then opened again.

Northbound Highway 99 – Sunday May 9th

Night closures are planned for Highway 99 north from Ming Avenue to Highway 58. The closures take place on Saturday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., alternating between the three lanes, with at least one lane always remaining open.

During this time, the driveways on Ming Avenue and Wible Road will also be closed. Northbound Highway 99 to Eastbound Highway 58 are also to be closed.

The closures are required for stripping work.

California Avenue – Thursday May 13th

California Avenue is scheduled to close between Easton Drive and Marella Way from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13

Traffic will be routed via Oak Street to Truxtun Avenue to Mohawk Street when traveling west and Mohawk Street to Truxtun Avenue to Oak Street when traveling east.

The lock is required for bridge work.

The construction plans can change at any time without prior notice due to unforeseen circumstances.
