Second victim identified in gunfire in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – (UPDATE 12/8): Kern County’s coroner office has identified 38-year-old Manuel Romero as the second victim, killed in a gunfight in South Bakersfield last week.

(UPDATE 12/3): KCSO has identified the victim as Eduardo Javier Cardenas, 39.

The search for the suspects continues in two separate overnight shootings that resulted in the death of three people.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with 23ABC that two people were killed in a shooting near Terrace Way and Hughes Lane at around 3 a.m.

MPs located three shooting victims at the scene. Two were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim was taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown.

No suspicious information is currently available.

A man died of his injuries after shooting in Flower and Miller streets around 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

MPs found a man in the area with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital and has since died.

KCSO homicide detectors are investigating both scenes.
