Rubens Mexican food in northeast Bakersfield has been closed for rat droppings

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Rubens Mexican food near Highway 178 was shut down by county health officials yesterday after rat droppings were found at the facility.

Kern County’s Public Health Services Department said inspectors found the feces in the storage, bar and dishwashing areas of the restaurant at 3807 Auburn Street. The restaurant was closed according to the inspection report and received an inspection rating of 69 percent.

“The operator / employee has not demonstrated proper decision-making skills,” the report says. “The system remained in operation during the active pest infestation. The operator / employee did not recognize the health risk associated with rodent droppings in a food facility. “
