BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Two local groups organized a Pride Ride in Bakersfield on Saturday to support the local LGTBQ + community.

The Free Mom Hugs group and Creative Crossing drove through the Oleander neighborhood, Westchester and downtown on Saturday afternoon.

“I think it’s very important to show appreciation to everyone under the LGBTQA umbrella, to protect trans rights, to protect trans youth, to protect all communities in our city,” said Mario Gonzalez, a member of Creative Crossing.

“We’re all pieces of a puzzle, and if we were all the same we wouldn’t be making a great puzzle.”

Gonzalez says this is the first, but it certainly won’t be the last Pride Ride in Bakersfield.
