Person seriously injured in crash in southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – The MLK Community Initiative put together the first vaccination popup in Southeast Bakersfield on Sunday. Despite long queues, there was a lot of energy at the vaccination site. Cheerleaders, a DJ, and a band came to cheer on those who received the vaccine. The organizers hope to motivate the underserved community.

Dr. VK Jones is a pastor at People’s Missionary Baptist in southeast Bakersfield. The MLK Community Initiative organized a vaccination clinic in his church. Jones was the first to be vaccinated, but he brought his EpiPen just in case.

“I’m allergic to almost anything,” said Jones.
