Pedestrian killed after being hit by a automotive in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car that the Bakersfield Police Department claims may have been involved in a street race.

The BPD said there were two cars at the traffic lights on Chester Avenue and Columbus Street. When the light turned green, the two cars accelerated. A man crossing Chester Avenue in front of the zebra crossing was hit by one of the two vehicles.

The man was taken to the hospital but died on the way.

Both cars left the scene of the accident and were not found.
