Eva Marie Sunderman-Bernacchi
August 18, 1970 – February 22, 2021
On the morning of February 22, 2021, Eva Marie Sunderman-Bernacchi died of an unknown heart disease. She was fifty years old.
Eva was born on August 18, 1970 in Cincinnati, OH, to Marjorie D’Souza-Sunderman and Robert Sunderman. She was the older sister of Derek Sunderman and Kirk Sunderman. Eva was an amazing daughter and a beloved older sister.
She married Christopher S. Bernacchi on February 14, 1998 in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, CA.
Eva attended Cal State Bakersfield, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in June 1993. Eva earned her Masters degree in Social Work in 1997 from Cal State Sacramento, CA.
Eva began her career as a social worker in Sacramento County. She received an Employee of the Month award for her hard work and dedication. Eva continued her career, moving to Foster Care and settling into adoption. Eva found great joy in helping families get together as they opened a new chapter in their lives.
Eva loved trying new things. Whether it was new food, traveling to new places, or kayaking, she was always ready for it.
Eva was the mother of Nicholas and Ethan Bernacchi. Eva’s care for her sons and her husband knew no bounds. Her best friend and husband Chris enjoyed each other’s love and support for 27 wonderful years.
Eva often reminded her family that life should be taken “one day at a time”.
Eva was a selfless person who always gave to others. She will be missed very much.
