Nobody pleads responsible to the lethal Bakersfield theft

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – One of two suspected gang members arrested in a fatal shooting in South Bakersfield in December pleaded guilty not to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

19-year-old Anthony Daniel and a 17-year-old man whose name is not yet known were charged with the murder of Emmanuel Arechiga, 18 Arechiga was shot dead at Morin Court but was able to drive to Echo Avenue near Wilson Park. 911 was called.

According to a court document, Arechiga’s girlfriend said the couple went to Morin court to buy the 17-year-old a gun, but when they arrived, the minor and Daniel robbed her at gunpoint. In the report, she said Arechiga had given up his belongings and was driving away when he was shot.

The teenager was arrested on January 21st and Daniel was taken into custody on January 26th.

Daniel is charged with first degree murder and robbery and will appear in court on March 9th.
