Lady arrested after allegedly forcing the driving force to lose management, bumping into a hearth hydrant and tree in southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Bakersfield police said a woman was arrested after a collision in which she allegedly pulled the steering wheel that caused the driver to lose control and hit a fire hydrant and tree.

The crash occurred around 9 p.m. on the corner of Stine Road and Pine Castle Avenue.

Bakersfield Police Sgt. Chance Koerner said the woman was a passenger in the SUV and had an argument with the driver. Koerner said her preliminary investigation showed the woman allegedly pulled the steering wheel as they drove north on Stine Road, forcing the driver to lose control of the SUV and cause an accident.

The crash sheared a fire hydrant and shot water into the air. The SUV then came to rest on a nearby tree. Koerner said the accident also caused a small fire under the hood, but the neighbors put out the fire with garden hoses.

The driver and the woman suffered minor to moderate injuries from the collision, said Koerner.
