BPD arrests Fresno in reference to human trafficking in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – Bakersfield Police Department arrested Fresno Javonna Lewis in connection with a human trafficking case involving a 17-year-old in Bakersfield.

According to BPD, BPD officials were made aware of the possible human trafficking of a 17-year-old victim in the city of Bakersfield on December 23, 2020. The victim was safely recovered and reunited with family members.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect and were given an arrest warrant against them.

BPD said Friday officials had partnered with Fresno’s Gang Enforcement Consortium to arrest 22-year-old Javonna Lewis. She was sent to Kern County Prison for torture, kidnapping, violent trafficking, minor trafficking, minor trafficking and foreign object entry.
