Bomb squad known as to East Bakersfield after suspicious machine was present in trash can

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A bomb squad was called to East Bakersfield earlier this morning after a suspicious device was found.

The Kern County Sheriff’s office said that around 2:14 a.m., MPs were dispatched to Flower and Williams Streets after receiving reports of a possible explosive device found in a trash can in the area.

When the MPs arrived, they located the device and called on the department’s bombing squad to provide assistance. According to KCSO, the squad detonated the device safely on site.

At this point in time, no details about the device were given.
