BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Bakersfield Recovery Services partnered with Apple Core Inc. to build the downtown Grace Street Community Garden.

Men and women struggling with addiction could work in the garden and make sure it flourished, taking weekly classes on nutrition, healthy cooking, and growing their own food.

Now that it is a little safer to gather in groups, organizers held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday to celebrate the community garden. Mayor Karen Goh was there with Alderman Andrae Gonzales and other local leaders.
