Bakersfield police arrested two brothers who had been charged with aiming the laser on the KCSO helicopter

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Bakersfield police said two brothers were arrested Saturday night for allegedly aiming a laser at a Kern County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.

Officials said the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. in the L and 2nd Street area. A sheriff’s helicopter pilot reported that the laser was aimed at the aircraft, but was able to alert officers of possible suspects in the area. A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested at a nearby home.

The officers arrested the two brothers for discharging a laser onto an airplane in flight. The identity of the 18-year-old suspect has not been disclosed.
