BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – The Bakersfield Fire Department welcomes a new deputy chief.
The department said Kevin Albertson had been hired as assistant chief of special services. Albertson’s responsibilities include overseeing arson, hazardous materials, and rescue situations. He is taking over from Trevor Martinusen, who announced his resignation two weeks ago.
Albertson says it’s group work that keeps BFD running smoothly.
“We are all a big team. I don’t just draw from my knowledge, ”he said. “I have three colleagues there. I have 8 v. In the field, 200 sworn officers. We’re going to take all of their knowledge, all of the knowledge from the chiefs and battalion chiefs, and apply it to the division. ”
Albertson says he looks forward to working with the other bosses to make the department a better place.
