BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Bakersfield City Council unanimously approved a major move for the former Greyhound bus station in downtown Bakersfield.

The city council voted 7-0 on Wednesday when councilors approved a 10-year lease for Greyhound to relocate operations to the Amtrak station on Truxtun Avenue, a few blocks away.

The former Greyhound station location on 18th Street has been sold to Church Plaza LLC, which will demolish the old structure and build a four-story apartment complex in its place. Construction could begin in the next few months.
