Bad luck hits Brody Roa at Perris Auto Speedway – Bakersfield on May 8th

Last Saturday night, Brody Roa was at the top of the first main event at Perris Auto Speedway in almost a year and a half. However, misfortune struck and he was forced to leave the race early. The team will be ready for action at the next USAC / CRA Sprint Car Series race at Bakersfield Speedway on May 8th.

After two wins last weekend at Kern County Raceway and Thunderbowl Raceway in May Motorsports # 8M, Roa was back in his familiar # 91R in Perris. Things started bright enough when he turned a lap of 16.56 in qualifying. That was good enough for the fourth quick time in the tough 24-car field. After the fifth start in his ten-lap race, the 30-year-old racing veteran showed a strong performance and clinched a hard-fought third place. That earned him an automatic ticket to the 30-round main event.

Mostly Roa was in the second row. Entanglements in the back of the field negated the first two attempts to start the race. The third attempt proved the appeal and the Garden Grove, California resident got off to a great start finishing second by the end of the first round. He stayed in second place until the end of lap four when he lost one position. However, when he pulled out of turn two less than half a lap later, his eye-catching green racing car began to smoke and slow down. He pulled it off the circuit at turn three with a broken left birdcage that ended his night. Unfortunately he had to be content with a frustrating 20th place.

It was a tough end to a good night. Even so, “The Pride of Garden Grove” is still fourth in the USAC / CRA series championship and will enter the fifth round on May 8th at Bakersfield Speedway.
