“This is a huge benefit for our residents and the community. Our city benefits from job creation, neighborhood beautification and improved service. This innovative on-site facility means our community gets even better service when they order their packages online, ”said Karen Goh, Bakersfield Mayoress. “This announcement also lets business leaders know that Bakersfield welcomes industries and innovators poised to grow and expand in California. We pride ourselves on being business-friendly, approachable, and welcoming when it comes to customer service. We expect more business growth and expansion in Bakersfield in the near future. “
“What a great opportunity for Bakersfield. Amazon’s new facility will revive an empty building in the city that no longer serves our residents. The transformation of this former big box site into an innovative last mile e-commerce facility meets the changing needs of local consumers. The city looks forward to working with Amazon to help integrate the new activities into our city and give a significant boost to our local economy, ”said Jacqui Kitchen, Bakersfield’s assistant city manager.
The new facility is scheduled to open this year.
