A new pantry is opened in Bakersfield, created by a selfless act

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – A pantry put together through a selfless act will open to the public in Kern County on Friday. It’s called Sister Josie’s pantry.

It’s located at 107 17th Street and opened at 10am

Sister Josephine Marie Gonzales died in October, but before she did, she and the Sisters of Mercy donated $ 2,000 to keep the pantry running.

After the opening ceremony, the pantry will distribute 75 three-day drive-thru style grocery packages.

The pantry is open weekly.
