BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – The gym chain 24 Hour Fitness is struggling financially.
The California-based company says it is closing 100 gyms, or about a quarter of its 400+ fitness centers.
About a third is in California, including the gyms in Kern County.
Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company laid off a number of workers in several states as it grappled with the impact of gym closures due to the pandemic.
The gym has reportedly been looking for funding to help it stay afloat.
We checked the 24 hour fitness website and both Bakersfield locations are listed as closed.
